Anniversary in the Rockies

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

I had the privelege of photographing a family reunion over the Independence Day weekend at which they were celebrating the parents’ 60th wedding anniversary. Talk about an accomplishment worthy of celebrating! It was a beautiful day in the Roaring Fork Valley, and a great day to be a photographer. It was a pleasure to shoot their family portraits, and help them commemorate their anniversary. I enjoyed getting downvalley from Aspen to meet at the scenic River Valley Ranch in Carbondale, CO. We took some shots near the golf course and historic barn.

60 years and counting!

A scenic location for a family portrait.

Adoring grandparents, adorable grandchildren.

The rising generation.

Mt. Sopris has nothing on this strong, beuatiful family.

The Princess Bride – Bridal Portraits

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

This lovely bride chose this castle for her bridal portraits. While the color photos were quite good, this set is in black and white, emphasizing the contrast of the old stone, the morning sunlight, and the bride’s beautiful wedding dress.

Aspen Textures

Saturday, March 6th, 2010

One of the cool things about living in the Rocky Mountains is the infinite variety of textures. In addition to the naturally occuring textures of aspen trees, clouds, and rock, there are manmade textures such as buildings, fences, or lights. Combine those with the changes of weather and seasons, and you have a nearly endless sea of textures, even as close as your own back yard. The Roaring Fork Valley, from Aspen through Basalt and Carbondale to Glenwood Springs, is an amazing place to take pictures. I hope to have a bunch more to post over the next few weeks and months. Stay tuned.

Settling in in Aspen, CO

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Actually, I’m living in Basalt, CO, a few miles down the road from Aspen, but I work in Aspen. Our family is settling in: the older girls are in school, the younger ones are enjoying the time alone at home with their mom, and taking advantage of the nearby parks.

If course there are heaps of photographic opportunities in Aspen and the Roaring Fork Valley, so stay tuned, especially to my facebook page for photo updates. I look forward to serving the photography needs of the wonderful people of this beautiful part of the world.

Family Portait Shoot

Monday, October 19th, 2009

I recently photographed this family with their two young sons. The older boy loved to pose for the camera; the younger one was a little harder to catch looking at the camera! But I kept snapping away and came up with some good ones.
